BAPTISM
CONSIDERING BAPTISM?
Here’s what you need to know about baptism at Redemption Tallahassee.
-
Baptism is the outward, physical response to the call of the Holy Spirit, that you have now submitted your life to Jesus Christ. Through faith, the act of baptism is putting your old nature to death, into the grave spiritually and then being raised to life as a new creature in Christ.
-
At Redemption Tallahassee, we hold to the practice of “believers’ baptism”, meaning that baptism is for those who have made a thoughtful confession of faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. For this reason, we withhold from baptizing infants or children unable to make a thoughtful confession of faith, but we do not intend for this non-essential conviction to cause division or prevent membership in the church.
Baptism is an ordinance given by Jesus, and to be administered by the Church, but this does not mean you have to be a member of Redemption Tallahassee in order to be baptized. After making a confession of faith and being baptized, membership in a healthy, local church is strongly encouraged to further your discipleship and growth in the Body of Christ.
